Kathryn (Casey) Bouskill, Ph.D. – RAND Corporation

Dr. Bouskill is a social scientist at the RAND Corporation and a professor at the Pardee RAND Graduate School. An anthropologist by training, Bouskill draws on qualitative and quantitative methods to study a range of public health issues, including mental health, health services delivery, and public health campaigns. Her topical areas of focus include: the role of emerging technologies in health and wellbeing, military mental health, chronic disease survivorship, and global health. Bouskill has worked and taught in the United States and Austria, where she served as a Fulbright scholar. In addition, she has performed multiple collaborative and interdisciplinary projects in the United States, the European Union, Sub-Saharan Africa, South America, Southeast Asia, and the Middle East. She has a Ph.D. in anthropology and an M.P.H. in epidemiology from Emory University. RAND Profile


Matthew Chinman, Ph.D. – RAND Corporation

Dr. Chinman is a senior behavioral scientist at RAND corporation and health scientist specialist at the Pittsburgh VA Medical Center. Dr. Chinman is also a co-creator of Getting to Outcomes, which is a toolkit to communities implement and evaluate their prevention programs. His work has focused on community-based prevention practices surrounding substance use, teen pregnancy, and homelessness, as well as youth development. Elizabeth D’Amico, Ph.D. – RAND Corporation

Dr. D’Amico is a senior behavioral scientist at RAND corporation. She received her Ph.D. in clinical psychology from the University of Texas and is known for developing interventions for adolescent substance use, including the use of Motivational Interviewing (MI) techniques. RAND Profile


Jordan Davis, Ph.D. – RAND Corporation

Dr. Jordan Davis is a Senior Policy Researcher at RAND. He is a shared Principal Investigator or co-Investigator on many of the projects in the PEARL. His work focuses on developmental needs and mitigating substance use behaviors in vulnerable populations. RAND Profile


Justin Hummer, Ph.D. – RAND Corporation

Dr. Hummer is an associate behavioral and social scientist at RAND. His work focuses on ecological factors relating to substance use behaviors and utilizing digital intervention techniques. He received his Ph.D. in clinical science from USC in 2019. RAND Profile


Joseph LaBrie, Ph.D. – Loyola Marymount University

Dr. LaBrie is a professor of psychology at Loyola Marymount University whose research focuses on adolescent and emerging adult/college student development and normative interventions of risk behaviors including substance use, risky sexual behaviors, and violence. He is the founder and director of HeadsUP labs at LMU. Stuart Murray, Psy.D. – Associate Professor, USC Keck School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

Dr. Murray is the Della Martin Associate Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where he serves as Director of the Eating Disorders Program, and Director of the Translational Research in Eating Disorders laboratory. He has specialized in the treatment of eating disorders for over a decade, and has authored more than 150 scientific manuscripts, books and book chapters, and has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally. Dr. Murray’s program of research utilizes behavioral, psychophysiological and neuroimaging methods to (i) elucidate the mechanisms that underpin eating disorder psychopathology, and (ii) develop precision treatment approaches to optimize patient outcomes. Clayton Neighbors, Ph.D. – University of Houston

Dr. Neighbors is a professor of psychology at the University of Houston, where he is also Director of Social Psychology and the Social Influences and Health Behaviors Lab. His research focuses on social influence on health and risk behaviors, including substance use, intimate partner violence, problem gambling, and intervention/prevention techniques. Denise Tran, Ph.D. – Assistant Professor, USC Keck School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences

Dr. Denise Tran is an assistant professor at the USC Keck School of Medicine. She earned her B.S. in Psychology from the University of California, San Diego and her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Loma Linda University. She completed her predoctoral clinical internship at the Oregon Health & Science University in 2020. She was a post-doctoral scholar in the PEARL before getting promoted to her current position. Her research focuses on the prevention and intervention of substance use in adolescents and young adults with a primary focus on e-cigarette use and other tobacco products.
